All hands were on deck to mitigate and restore this 116' multi-million-dollar yacht after a galley fire.

When a fire broke out in the galley of this 116" multimillion-dollar yacht, SERVPRO of East Davie/Cooper City got the SOS. The owners of the yacht normally enjoy all types of water sports, eating and drinking while cruising on the high seas. But that wasn’t the story this day when a fire erupted in the galley or kitchen of this beautiful yacht.  The galley is considered the hub of the vessel, restoring the yacht back into ship-shape form was the plan of action.

FIRE BLANKET

The fire broke out as the Chef was preparing lunch for the owners and their guests.  It was a grease fire from cooking oil.  The Chef quickly used a fire blanket to smother the fire. If you didn’t know, a fire blanket smothers small fires.  Unlike using a fire extinguisher, it doesn’t make a mess.  A fire extinguisher puts white powder everywhere and makes it difficult to clean up. SERVPRO of East Davie/Cooper City was called in to remove the harsh, smell or smoke that lingered throughout the yacht. 

REMOVING ODORS

We used high-tech equipment to remove smoke and soot residue to destroy those foul odors that the fire may have left behind. SERVPRO’s goal was to make sure that fire damage was dealt with properly and effectively as some odors are incredibly difficult to remove. An Ozone Machine was used for 8 hours to remove residual smoke odors. 

PLAN AHEAD

Every fire is different so each reaction is situational.  Thinking ahead can go a long way in dealing with a disaster.
